Learning RPM - RPM Training

Overview

Professionals, organizations and parents trying to use SomaŽ RPM are invited and encouraged to apply to the "Soma Ž RPM Introductory Course" conducted by Soma Mukhopadhyay at the HALO clinic in Austin, Texas. HALO wishes to help ensure that those using Soma RPM have the education and oversight needed to properly implement and to reach each student's maximum potential.

  • Professionals who apply to this course must already have attended or watched Soma's conference dvd (Please see our "Online Store) and already have initial exposure and basic foundation of understanding this method and complete all pre-requisites listed on the "SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course" application form.

  • Parents/guardians who are applying must have attended or watched Soma's conference dvd, their child must have already had a "Camp" or sessions with Soma and complete all pre-requisites listed on the "SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course" application form. *For new HALO members that are a parent/guardian, please complete a "New Client Intake Form" for your child, prior to registering for a "camp" or sessions with Soma"


  • Both professionals and parents are required to submit video samples of their initial attempts at using RPM, along with the "SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course" application. Active HALO membership ($25 annual membership)and participation by both parents and professionals is also a requirement.


    Please Note: You may contact HALO to verify individuals who have completed the "SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course" at the HALO clinic or ask to see a letter of completion on HALO letterhead signed by HALO staff.

  • Soma® RPM Introductory Course:

    This course has been renamed - "SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course"

    For Whom:
  • Parents, Teachers, Therapists, Aides
  • Those with serious interest in learning and using RPM for teaching academics and communicating with students with autism and similar disorders.


  • Pre-requisites for applying to SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course:
  • Attendance of Soma's RPM conference, lecture or viewing conference dvd.
  • Active HALO annual online membership and participation
  • Parents have to have at least one "Camp" or sessions with Soma working with their child.
  • Professionals must provide evidence of observing Soma's sessions and/or volunteering at the clinic or a workshop.
  • Professionals submit 10-minute video samples of RPM use with 1-3 students.
  • Professionals must submit brief resume and letter of reason for wanting to attend course.
  • Parents may submit samples of work with their own child.
  • Download and submit application for SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course after fulfilling prerequisites.

  • After pre-requisites are fulfilled and application is submitted, those candidates will be contacted and invited to attend the next scheduled introductory course. For upcoming classes, please check this website's event Calendar (listed in the left-hand navigation on the homepage) or the Resource page (listed under the Learning menu).

    Course:
  • 4-day course at HALO clinic in Austin, TX
  • 10 adults per class
  • Classes are scheduled once 10 applicants have completed their pre-requisites
  • $725 per person


  • Completion of SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course:
    Attending and passing the 4-day RPM course in Austin.
    SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course attendees are encouraged to begin practicing RPM with one or more students, under HALO's oversight. RPM Course attendees are NOT qualified to train others and/or to conduct public presentations on RPM.

    Post-Requisites:
    SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course attendees are required to submit a 10 minute video clip post SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course, 10 minute corresponding lesson plan, and follow-up phone consult (price included in SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course Cost) in order to receive proof of completion of SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course.

    Training:
    Upon satisfactory completion of the SomaŽ RPM Introductory Course, an attendee may inquire about the application process for HALO's Intern program. This includes satisfactory performance on the oral exam given during the course and completing/passing all post-requisites.
